    Role Description

    From market analysis and segmentation, through pricing, underwriting, and claims, as well as the overall customer experience, data is at the core of what we do.

    To deliver our data ambitions we are now looking for inquisitive, data literate graduates to join us as we embark on the next phase of this journey. You will either be joining our Data Centre of Excellence in Strategy & Marketing or our Risk Division.

    Strategy & Marketing Division

    You will be joining an expanding Data Team and will have the opportunity to build and develop your career as a data professional. As part of our trainee scheme, you will gain experience in a wide range of capabilities including data analysis, data engineering, data management, and data quality. How your career develops will be aligned to the data disciplines that interest you the most.

    Typically, you could be involved with insight driven data analysis to solve business problems, the development of key business dashboards, the engineering of reusable datasets to support end user self service, through to the defining standards and the profiling, analysis, and remediation of critical business data ensuring it’s fit for purpose.

    You will be working with business stakeholders from IT teams through to business data teams, and at all levels across the organisation. Strong and effective communication, coupled with a logical and inquisitive mind is a must.

    Most importantly however is a genuine interest in data and a desire to build your career in data.

    Ultimately, you’ll be joining a team responsible for putting data at the heart of our business and ensuring we continue to deliver an unparalleled customer experience for another 110 years.

    Risk Division

    You’ll be joining a Risk Division that is focused on building up our data expertise to support real time risk management. You’ll be working with colleagues from across the division to identify and develop ways to maximise our ability to use data and data science techniques to drive insights and intelligence to support monitoring and managing of risks.

    What You'll Do and Learn

    Strategy & Marketing

    • Working across all areas within the Data Centre of Excellence including data management, data quality, and data delivery with the opportunity to experience each of them before you decide where your interests lie
    • Working on larger projects and building your skills and capabilities to own and drive small projects yourself
    • While not every role will require a deep technical background, we are looking for a level of technical competency and data literacy, being able to write good SQL is a must
    • You have the opportunity to develop your technical data skills including working towards achieving Microsoft Azure Certifications

    Risk Division

    • You will start within the actuarial function team, where you’ll learn the basics of our insurance business and our main data sources and tools.
    • From there you’ll have the opportunity to rotate between the actuarial function team and the DISC team to help drive tailored risk intelligence and insights to drive the business forward.
    • While not every role will require a deep technical background, we are looking for a level of technical competency and data literacy.being able to write good SQL is a must
    • You have the opportunity to develop your technical data skills including working towards achieving Microsoft Azure Certifications

    Qualifications and Requirements

    You will have achieved a 2:2 or above

    SQL is a pre-requisite, any experience of Azure, Power BI, Python, R is a bonus, but not essential

    Our Graduate Schemes officially commence in September 2023. If you have already graduated, opportunities are available for a December 2022 start.
