The Communications team is responsible for securing and safeguarding Nissan’s press coverage in the UK – ensuring the maintenance of a positive share of voice in the UK’s automotive and national media. From product launches to PR initiatives, the Communications team is key to keeping the Nissan name in the ‘papers’!

The team is also responsible for the curation and distribution of internal communications across NMGB, from bringing external stories to employees through to ensuring key notices are cascaded to the business via channels including All Employee Meetings.

The team is split into six main areas: Product/EV, Events, Partnership, Corporate, Dealer, Internal

What you'll Need

  • Second year student, currently studying a degree that allows you to partake in an industrial communications & marketing placement year
  • Someone with a natural ‘go getter’ proactive attitude
  • Ability to integrate, interact and work within a small team
  • Experience with events and working with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong written skills and a confidence to undertake interviews (with NMGB staff, for internal stories)
  • Experience with Word, Excel and PowerPoint to a confident capacity
  • Self-motivated and an acceptance to work in a high paced, ever changing environment
  • Natural communicator – someone who feels comfortable introducing themselves and making appropriate small talk when needed!
  • Good time and workload management skills Attention to detail and a focus on improvement and positive challenge and change

What you'll be doing

You will be the main contact for Internal Communications at NMGB. From cascading the daily notices to the business (through email and our internal comms app) to managing the ambient media across the site (plasmas, posters) to organizing all employee meetings –  your role will be crucial to ensuring all employees are kept up to date with key company information and news. You will also be assisting the Events/Partnership manager in their daily tasks, from supporting the organizing and hosting of media events (new product launches) to helping arrange photo/video shoots and activities to amplify Nissan’s partnerships .

Your key responsibilities, additional to the above will be:

  • Managing the departmental finances, receiving quotes, raising POs and processing payments to suppliers
  • Facilitating and minuting team meetings
  • Creating content to be distributed through Nissan’s internal channels
  • Upkeep of Commuincations team calendar with internal / external news and events
  • Coordinating and consolidating management committee minutes
  • Supporting collation of coverage and clippings to share with team

Your main objectives will be to ensure the proactive, consistent and correct distribution of news to the business through the internal communications channels. Success will be measured by ensuring news is regular (weekly), calendars are up to date and you show a proactive initiative to hunting out stories and uploading onto the channels, from events held at GB to the customisation of external stories for our internal audience.

You will also be required to ensure the crucial weekly tasks in your care are undertaken and effective communication to the team is given by way of updates in team meetings and up keep of team board and calendars.

The Communications team is a small but a most lively team at GB and you will be a fundamental member of this team. Whilst, as with any job, there will be the usual admin/ more necessary tasks to undertake – you will be expected to embrace the role and make it yours. The scope is as wide as you wish to make it as the team is always working on new projects and challenges, often at very short notice. An ability to be flexible and proactive is a must, a willingness to engage with people (your team and beyond) is crucial. Experience with events and a fondness for sport is helpful but attitude remains key. Demonstrating that you want to make the most of your year and you’re happy to learn, listen and support the team is ultimately exactly what we’re looking for.

Online assessment

Depending on the role you have applied for this can differ, you may be asked to complete a telephone interview or you may need to record a short video. We also sometimes ask you to complete online assessments which may be technical or values based.

Assessment centre

If successful, we will then invite you to an assessment centre. The assessment day comprises of various activities which may include a presentation, group activity and a competency based interview. During every activity you will have a chance to showcase what you can do, your skillsets and motivations for applying to the scheme. You’ll also have the opportunity throughout the day to ask any questions you might have relating to the scheme with senior management or current employees. Our advice is to be yourself and as relaxed as possible.
