We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant to join our team, reporting directly to the Finance Manager. This is a varied and hands-on role offering fantastic exposure across key areas of finance, including Purchase Ledger, Procurement, and Credit Control.
You'll be an essential part of our Finance Department, helping to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and contributing to long-term financial efficiency. This role is perfect for someone with a keen eye for detail, strong organisational skills, and a drive to continuously improve processes.
Key responsibilities
- Process purchase order requests and supplier invoices
- Reconcile supplier statements and assist with month-end processes
- Support procurement, including negotiating with suppliers and reviewing contracts
- Monitor and manage staff travel processes and related finance procedures
- Carry out credit control tasks including chasing customers and reducing aged debt
- Maintain and update supplier and customer records
- Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve finance queries
- Support the Finance Manager with purchasing for new services and cost-saving initiatives
- Update commissioner portals and distribute customer invoices
- Ensure compliance with procurement and payment procedures
- Conduct new supplier checks and maintain accurate supplier databases
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience in a finance or accounts assistant role is desirable
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Confident communicator with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Ability to work well as part of a team and independently
- A willingness to learn and grow within the finance function
