Are you a recent graduate looking to start your career in tax within a growing and supportive organisation? Join our Group Tax team in Manchester, where you’ll gain hands-on experience in a wide range of tax matters while receiving full training and support.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of corporation tax computations using Alphatax.
  • Prepare corporation tax control account reconciliations.
  • Post journals for corporation tax accruals using a template and ledger analysis.
  • Cross-check balances with government gateway and other external sources.
  • Prepare group-level balance sheet analysis for review.
  • Assist with the calculation of quarterly instalment payments.
  • Support group relief calculations and reporting.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the group payment arrangement.
  • Assist with the onboarding of acquisitions, including HMRC accounting period changes and initial data collection.
  • Manage all UK entity government gateway accounts.
  • Support tax implications of legal entity reduction, including dormancy notifications.
  • Maintain records of group tax references, including new joiners and leavers.
  • Track due dates and submission deadlines for tax returns, including non-standard deadlines.
  • Assist with other taxation projects arising from business needs.

Key requirements

  • Degree in Accountancy or related subject.
  • Qualification in Accountancy (AAT, ACCA, ACA) or Tax (ATT, CTA), or intention to study.
  • Previous experience in accounts preparation in a workplace setting.

Additional requirements

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Experience using Xero or another accountancy package advantageous.
