About the Role:
As an Intern in our Optum Technology team, you will be provided opportunities to channel your curiosity into initiative, working alongside distinguished and experienced team members, pursuing innovations that improve the health care experience for everyone. Throughout your 10-week internship, you’ll gain invaluable experience and learn from leading innovators as a member of one or more of our many teams engaged in life-changing work.
At Optum Technology, we offer internships in a wide variety of domains, as well as a development curriculum, mentoring from leaders, networking and collaboration opportunities and the ability to work remotely. The intent of our internship programme is to provide return internship opportunities or full-time employment at Optum, depending on eligibility.
Key Information on the Technology Internship Programme:
The following are tracks where candidates may be placed. Please note that track placement is dependent on business need and location availability. While we will take your track preference under consideration, it is not guaranteed:
- Software Engineering
- Infrastructure & Operations Engineering
- Product Management
- Security Operations & Engineering
You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for potential future roles.
Required Qualifications of the Technology Internship Programme:
- Currently pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree in a Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or other technical discipline
- Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college/university during the duration of the internship (internships are not intended for graduates)
Preferred Qualifications of the Technology Internship Programme:
- Involvement in any additional technical activities (Robotics, Comp. Science/Tech clubs, Tech or Engineering side projects, GitHub, etc.) and/or tech related employment experience
- Effective communication style to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Proficiency in core programming concepts and at least one programming language (Example: Python, Java, Scala, C, SQL, .NET)
