DEADLINE 31st March 2021
Graduate programme
Pell Frischmann
Luton
Engineering

Pell Frischmann is an international multi-disciplinary consulting engineering company with over 90 years of experience in the built environment. We are a unique business whose purpose is to generate sustainable funds to deal with the environmental and social commitments resulting from the closing of Germany’s hard-coal mining industry; so our work directly contributes to environmental protection and preservation for the future.

Our expertise and capabilities cover: Aviation, Buildings, Highways & Transportation, Land Development, Rail, and Water & Wastewater.

“Excellence Through Innovation” permeates our company culture. We believe that quality engineering goes beyond simply achieving codified compliance, and we passionately pursue solutions that deliver better results for end-users via unconventional methods.

Main Purpose of the Job

Pell Frischmann is seeking to appoint a number of graduate ecologists and seasonal field ecologists to join their Environment team to undertake ecological surveys for a large scale infrastructure project.

The roles would ideally be based out of our Luton office with works across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, but we are also keen to hear from candidates for our Birmingham office. The project is centered around Aylesbury and as such candidates should be prepared to work and travel in and around this area. The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for undertaking a range of bat surveys including emergence surveys, crossing point surveys and automated static detector setup and analysis.

The role will be primarily field based, with many of the surveys undertaken at night.

For the graduate ecologist role, the ideal candidate will have at least a season of bat survey experience and be familiar with undertaking emergence surveys, automated detector surveys and bat call analysis.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of tasks incorporating the following elements:

  • Undertaking a range of bat surveys including (but not limited to): emergence surveys, crossing point surveys and automated static detector deployment. Opportunities to help on other surveys including thermal imaging and radio-tracking may also be available.
  • Sound analysis of bat calls recorded by static detectors;
  • Report writing under guidance of senior staff members.
