We are looking to for someone to join our Consumer Insights team at our Reading Innovation Centre for a 12-month Internship Placement. Consumer Insights Scientists, known in P&G as Products Researchers, work to use their skills to extract non-obvious consumer insights from panellists, making non-obvious connections across consumer, technical and business realms, and working with a team to support translation into business and product strategies. Products Researcher scientists and engineers provide a unique advantage to P&G by integrating in-depth consumer understanding with product technology in a single role.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and execute logistics to recruit panels of consumers meeting specific needs for the project. Developing test methods and directly interviewing consumers.
  • Complete on panellist technical measures to investigate consumer behaviour and consumer responses to products.
  • Identify connections between razor product technology and consumer insights and translate those connections into winning product proposals. Prototype new product ideas and iteratively learn through explicit, focused learning cycles and consumer studies to create irresistible products.
  • Assess and understand consumer, technology, market, online, competitive and IP landscape to influence the definition of category innovation strategies and new opportunity spaces.
  • Define/develop consumer relevant technical and consumer methods to assess key product attributes and demonstrate claimable product benefits.

Requirements (skills / experiences) for the role

  • Completed A Levels or vocational alternative such as BTEC or HND in science based subjects (e.g. biology, chemistry, psychology).
  • Great interpersonal skills and comfortable talking to and observing consumers behaviour.
  • Strong executive functionality, organisational and logistical planning skills. Able to juggle multiple activities, keep clear records and report insights to the team.
  • Think creatively and understand the importance of obsessing about our Consumer, defining consumer requirements and finding technical solutions.
  • Technical curiosity, innovation, leadership and strong collaboration skills.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English.
  • Geography: Ability to work permanently in the UK.
