We have a fantastic opportunity offering a summer placement in our Civil Engineering Team based in Bury St Edmunds.
Our summer placement programme is aimed at students on a Civil or Structural Engineering course, currently in either their second or third year of studies. We will give you a first-hand experience of working within a civil engineering team, and an insight into the wide range of projects we work on across a variety of sectors.
What you can expect
The summer placement programme is 8-10 weeks in length, so your focus will be to ensure each day counts.
Key responsibilities will include:
- preparing CAD drawings/Revit models from engineer’s sketches under supervision
- assisting Civil Engineers to create pipeline plans, drainage plans, simple surfaces and road layouts using Civil 3D software
- Undertaking analysis and design calculations / drawings, reports and contract documents under supervision
The summer placement offers students the opportunity to learn new skills, gain valuable industry experience and put what you have learned from your studies into practice where you will be making real and positive contributions.
About you
We are looking for students who are currently in their second or third year of studies on a civil or structural engineering course, and on track to achieve a 2:1 or above. We will look at more than just your academic results however, and will also consider your strengths, values, and motivations.
We are looking for students who have good communication skills (both written and verbal) and are keen to progress and develop. A good team player, ability to work to deadlines and manage own time are also essential.
