Our summer placement programme is aimed at students on a Quantity Surveying course, currently in either their second or third year of studies. We’ll give you first-hand experience of working within a Quantity Surveying team in a large practice, and an insight into the wide range of projects we work on across a variety of sectors.
The placement will be based at our Glasgow office with some scope for flexible working.
What you can expect
The summer placement programme is 8-10 weeks in length, so your focus will be to ensure each day counts.
The summer placement offers students the opportunity to learn new skills, gain valuable industry experience, and put what you have learned from your studies into something practical, where you will be making real and positive contributions to our practice.
What you'll do
- Assist in the preparation of Cost Estimates, cost plans and tender documents.
- Be involved in accurate arithmetical checks of calculations
- Work on varied projects in both the private and public sector
- Preparation of interim valuations of construction
- Provide general support in the cost management and financial reporting of construction projects
- Attend meetings to provide QS input, review project progress and present project data
About you
We are looking for students who are currently in their second or third year of studies on a Quantity Surveying course, and on track to achieve a 2:1 or above. We will look at more than just your academic results however, and will also consider your strengths, values, and motivations.
We are looking for students who have good communication skills (both written and verbal) and are keen to progress and develop. A good team player, ability to work to deadlines and manage own time are also essential.
