An industrial placement at Renishaw offers you the chance to learn more about the commercial functions within a global manufacturing organisation.

Our commercial based industrial placements are available in several disciplines:

  • Marketing
  • Communications
  • Sustainability
  • Business Systems

Each placement will involve working on live projects under the mentorship of our senior managers. As well as gaining hands on experience in your chosen field, you will have the opportunity to connect with people working in the business and discuss your career ambitions and ideas with employees in similar roles.  

What will I be doing?

Our Communications placements work on a variety of tasks around the creation and distribution of corporate communication materials used to inform our employees and external stakeholders about the Company and its activities.

This can include: managing areas of our employee intranet (SharePoint); creating news stories for UK audiences; using a content management system (CMS) to update our company website and publish press releases; using a range of digital channels to distribute internal corporate communications and videos; maintaining a communications library; managing global and UK email newsletters and supporting wider communication projects.

What will I gain?

What skills and experience do I need?

Students applying for this position should have studied in/be studying disciplines such as communications, journalism, business management, marketing.

  • High standard of verbal and written communication (including copywriting skills)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Collaborative, and keen to share information, knowledge and skills
  • Able to identify the goals of any project and work towards them
  • Prioritise and plan work effectively
  • Work under pressure when required and adhere to deadlines
  • Experience using creative software and an understanding of digital publishing requirements

Where will I be working?

This role is based at our New Mills site near Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire and you may on occasion be required to travel to other Renishaw sites for work. As Renishaw is based in a semi-rural location, it is essential that applicants have their own form of transport, or they are willing to relocate to the local area. Renishaw operates hybrid working; it is likely that this role will be required to spend three days per week on-site.
