Do your bit to help protect the built and natural environments in the Cotswold District.

Planning Enforcement is a vital function of the planning system and can help support key decisions made by the Council. Breaches of planning control can have significant impacts upon the district’s historic and natural environments and the wellbeing of its residents, and the enforcement function gives Local Planning Authorities the powers to address harmful impacts of unauthorised development.

You will play a key role in helping the Council create an online Enforcement Register which will benefit customers as they will be able to better self-serve for information via our website.

About the role

An enforcement notice is a notice served against unauthorised development/breach of planning control.  The notice will explain the alleged breach of planning control, the reason for its issue, the steps required and the period within which they should be taken. You will be responsible for:

  • Cross-referencing all notices issued to the planning enforcement module in our system database (Uniform) to ensure the register is complete
  • Populate/create records with notice details as required in the Uniform database (training provided)
  • Scan and index all notices via an electronic document management system (training provided)

This is a new placement role covering Cotswold District Council which is famed for its natural beauty and historic buildings.

You will need

  • An interest in planning
  • Excellent level of IT skills
  • Ability to work with attention to detail
  • Proactive/self-motivated with a sense of what is practical and achievable
