Software engineering

The QinetiQ Software discipline supports a broad range of our capabilities from designing submarines to providing cyber-security services, and is at the forefront of developing innovative software solutions to meet the demanding requirements of our customers and partner organisations.

We are a group of professional software developers and engineers who work across the land, sea, air and space domains of the business. We use the latest software development technologies and techniques to develop innovative software solutions.

Our Software Engineering teams are looking to recruit proactive, passionate and forward thinking people who are looking to help improve today & shape tomorrow.

We are looking for Graduates wanting a career in software development, integration and test to join our team of over 200 experts. You will develop the skills needed to contribute to the delivery of a wide range of programmes for military, government and commercial customers to support the protection of national critical infrastructure.

Academic requirements

You will need to have obtained or be studying towards at least a 2:2 in a degree with a key focus on any of the disciplines listed below:

  • Computer Science (Non-Cyber)
  • Electrical / Electronic Engineering
  • Systems Engineering

We will also consider applications which have clear & relevant external experience in any of the above disciplines. You will also need to support this by having obtained or be studying towards at least a 2:2 degree.

Additional requirements

  • Have a strong interest and/or experience within Embedded Software Engineering
  • Passionate about technology with hobbies / interests outside of academia (building computers & kit etc.)
  • Work experience within an Embedded Software Engineering position is beneficial
  • Excellent knowledge within at least one language (Embedded C# / Embedded C++ / RTOS)
  • You must of graduated no earlier than 2019 OR will graduate no later than 2022
