Software engineering

The QinetiQ Software discipline supports a broad range of our capabilities from designing submarines to providing cyber-security services, and is at the forefront of developing innovative software solutions to meet the demanding requirements of our customers and partner organisations.

We are a group of professional software developers and engineers who work across the land, sea, air and space domains of the business. We use the latest software development technologies and techniques to develop innovative software solutions.

We are looking for two types of Software Engineering summer students to fill the following opportunities:

  • Software Assurance
  • Software Development

Requirements

Academic

You will need to be studying towards at least a 2:2 in a degree with a key focus on any of the disciplines listed below:

  • Computer Science
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Software Engineering
  • Systems Engineering

Additional 

Software assurance

  • Math modelling experience is beneficial
  • Programming experience &/or knowledge is beneficial
  • Must have good written communications skills, including report writing
  • Solo working will be required within this role
  • Flight modelling experience is beneficial

Software development

  • Software experience outside of academia is beneficial
  • Good knowledge of at least one language (C# / C++ / Java etc.)
  • Experience with Linux is beneficial
