The common factor between them all is that their products share the Robert Dyas ethos for being innovative, practical and designed to last. The 93 stores and Robert Dyas website are supported by a Retail Support Centre in Wimbledon, the Distribution Centre in Hemel Hempstead and the Customer Support Centre in Crewe. 

Job Purpose

To implement the content and presentation of the products on the website and their commercial management.  Writing content and uploading imagery in line with the brand strategy to increase sales, web page performance and site conversion.

Responsibilities

This will involve new product creation; cataloguing, creating engaging copy, technical product specifications and managing our imagery to meet customer requirements.

Key Accountabilities

Content Management

  • Setting up of new products from the new additions spreadsheet,  according to deadlines from line manager & the buying team
  • Communicate the upload of new product through the workflow document, editing and adding new products according to the commercial priorities set
  • Identify where deadlines are likely to be missed and escalate this to the Buying Team and Head of Multi Channel
  • Ensure the correct functioning of all products, so that the customer is able to find and buy all website ranged products

Copywriting Quality

  • Write product descriptions that are accurate, engaging and equally attractive to consumers and search engine
  • Demonstrate excellent written copy– engaging, unique, grammatically correct, refreshing copying and utilising the brand tone of voice.
  • Work to a minimum of 300 characters for any product and utilising imagery to illustrate all product key features – with content depth to suit the customer solution
  • Content corrections, as and when required, according to self- checking & snag list

Maintenance of Category & Customer Service Pages

  • Ensure all products are correctly categorised and that category pages show an attractive shopping selection
  • Daily check of core landing pages for areas of responsibility
  • Weekly Friday audit of the customer shopping experience ready for weekend trade.
  • Provide on-going support for colleagues and answering content/configuration related support queries

Buying Team Liaison

  • Write copy with reference to the keywords of customer search
  • Liaise with the buying team to change the product name, where the system name does not fully describe or sell the product
  • Add keywords to assist the search function
  • Agree on “Perfect Product” templates by category

Page Performance

  • Use of analytics and SEO moz data to evaluate page performance
  • Use of heat paths to understand customer page performance
  • Understanding and measuring page bounce rates, values and exit rates
  • Fixing 404, 301, metadata and page title issues
  • Work with the head of multi-channel to improve SEO performance and traffic direct to key products and landing pages

Store Pages

  • Write up and illustration of store pages
  • Update fresh copy and share best practices

Drop Ship

  • Matching of invoices against sales orders
  • Assisting account team with reconciliation enquires
  • Work with the On-Site Manager to update the supplier portal information and chase outstanding deliveries

Marketing Integration – One Business One Voice

  • Updating website features and fresh content in line with the marketing calendar
  • Adapt central print material text,  preserving  the single brand message and voice for consumers
  • Research and write “hints and tips” – taking a solutions based angle

Personal Training & Magento Exploitation

  • Keep a list of training requirements against job descriptions – against which your line manager will provide training assistance
  • Assist in the creation of  internal training documents & systems
  • Benchmark competitors for new innovative features and functions to aid of shopping experience
  • Driving sales

Specific Skills and Experience

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Overwhelming motivation and passion for ecommerce
  • Be proficient in advanced Excel, Photoshop/Illustrator
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A related degree
