As pioneers of the world’s most advanced power generation systems, our business needs IT & data innovators.
Utilising leading technologies, we enable our business to design, manufacture and service cutting-edge products in Civil Aerospace, Defence and Power Systems.
This is your opportunity to join a dynamic and critical part of our business. Our graduate programme is all about pioneering new approaches, empowering us to think differently, and taking our IT and data innovation to a whole new level.
You could find yourself exploring ways to make aeroplanes fly for longer using less fuel. Or developing a data lake for our customers. It might be that you’re helping our power generation customers to understand the health of their MTU engines. Or delivering analytic solutions that have a direct financial impact on the nuclear industry. You could even develop applications that will drive cross-team collaboration. These are just some of the ways in which you could drive our future success.
Over the course of 24 months, you’ll have many opportunities to develop your business and technical expertise, whether by working in one of our world-class innovation labs, using the latest programming and data analytics skills, learning from industry-leading experts or working on research projects that deliver real value to the business. You could even have the chance to progress your studies via our IT and Digital Academies.
At the end of the programme, you will have developed the skills you need to take on your first role, which could include Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Data Engineer, Cyber Security Specialist, Software Engineer, or Solutions Analyst.
No matter what your passion, you’ll be helping to embed a digital-first culture by putting data and technology solutions at the heart of our business.
What you’ll do
You’ll undertake different placements across both Data Innovation and IT, providing you with the skills, knowledge and experiences to understand the breadth of our business and the markets in which we operate. Your placements could include working on a corporate IT project (we’ve just introduced a global, cloud-based HR management system), being part of an agile multi-skilled team that turns data into value (we call them ‘data innovation cells’), or helping our business units to develop future opportunities. You might look at how we can best manage our ecosystem of suppliers or research the latest Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning technologies to determine how they could benefit our business.
What you’ll need
You should have, or be expecting to achieve, a 2.1 degree in any subject. You’ll be naturally curious – you’re someone who looks beyond the obvious and who’s always trying to find better ways of doing things. You certainly won’t be afraid to challenge us to help drive improvements, and you’ll be passionate about the possibilities that come from working in such a fast-paced and innovative environment. Beyond that, we’ll want to see strong communication, organisational, team-working and problem-solving skills – all of which you’ll develop even further over the course of the programme.
What you’ll get
- A competitive salary and pension
- Work towards professional membership of bodies such as IET, IMA or BCS
- Bonus schemes
- Leisure facilities and numerous sports societies and social activities
