On this 12-month programme, you’ll complete two, six-month placements within our HR function, taking on real-life assignments. You’ll get be practical experience, formal training, individual and group projects and mentoring from a senior colleague on our buddy scheme. What you’ll do
You’ll be working with experienced HR professionals either as part of a business team, in our Global People Services or in our centres of excellence. We’ll set you goals, which you’ll achieve with support from the team and network around you, in an active learning environment where you’ll help deliver for our business. You might do that by working on generalist HR activities, business change, rewards and benefits, or through supporting the development of our people and leaders. The variety is huge and the projects are real, so you can expect non-stop learning. A recent intern spent their first six months, working with global colleagues to help us undertake restructuring and change projects, contributing to the overall set-up of our Global People Services within our new business model. They then spent their second six months, acting as a People Partner within one of our businesses, supporting shop floor employees and driving HR initiatives. This programme is a significant insight into what life is like on our graduate programme, so when we say you’ll be tested on real-life assignments that could include some very high-profile work.
What you’ll need
We’re looking for hard-working, tenacious undergraduates with a curiosity about and passion for HR, leadership potential, strategic business acumen and excellent people skills – you’re someone who effortlessly builds relationships and works well with others. You’ll be inquisitive, resourceful, a natural problem-solver and overflowing with ideas. You’ll need to be in your second year of your undergraduate degree when applying and have an option to complete a 12-month placement as part of your course. Along with being on course to achieve a 2.1 degree (or equivalent), we also want to see great interpersonal, communication and leadership skills developed through well-rounded life experience – academically, socially and in any previous work situations. Flexibility is important, as you could be based at any of our sites. Ambition and drive are also essential, as you’ll be excited about the fact that this placement could lead to a place on our graduate programme.
