We are seeking a Science Project Intern to develop the online mapping databases for the Turks and Caicos Islands using the Esri software suite. The position will be part of the Spatial Analysis and UK Overseas Territories teams within the Ecosystem Stewardship Priority. The post will directly input to the TIPA’s and Important Plant Species of TCI project.

About the role

Using ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro, the intern will assist in collation, management, analysis, mapping and visualisation of geospatial datasets covering the Turks and Caicos Islands. They will also contribute to the development of web and mobile data collection tools for Kew’s staff using Esri's Survey123 and Field Maps apps. 

Specific training/experience that the Intern will receive: 

  • Hands-on project experience.
  • Collaborate with Science and Horticulture directorate staff.
  • Gain exposure to GIS technologies.
  • Develop skills in Esri ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Acquire skills in GIS analytics, web mapping and visualization.

What you'll get

This role is based at Kew with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements. 

The salary will be £17,853 per annum (plus £725 book allowance).
