This placement role is within our specialist Innovation Reliefs team which assists companies in the preparation of claims for Research & Development tax relief. We work with companies across all sectors, most notably manufacturing, engineering, life sciences, software and digital technologies to assist them to identify and prepare claims in respect of qualifying R&D and development activities. Ultimately these claims generate cash for the businesses via a tax relief mechanism which either reduces corporation tax payments or generates payable credits from HMRC.

IT and software is our fastest growing area and we are looking for a placement student to work with our team’s IT, digital and software clients to assist with the understanding and assessment of their software development activities.  Typical projects include software product development for software vendors, platforms for e-commerce activities, social media technologies and fintech providers. Large in-house software projects for a range of non-software businesses are also common, for the likes of manufacturers, consumer products, bricks and mortar retailers, logistics companies and other service providers.

What can you expect?

This programme will provide you with an opportunity to build some R&D tax relief knowledge and also give you a basic foundation in a range of tax issues. With us, you’ll be involved in projects from day one – anything from liaising with and visiting clients to preparing and completing R&D reports and corporation tax returns.

The variety of work we do and the range of clients we work with mean you’ll have plenty of opportunity to discover a career path that fits your interests and long-term goals.
