What does our Transfer Pricing team do?
Transfer pricing is fundamental to international business. It sets rules which ensure that multinational enterprises recognise the right levels of income and profit in each of their operating territories, so that they pay tax on that basis. We work with companies ranging from fast-growing start-ups to global multinationals to understand what they do, how they create value, and how this is achieved across the countries where they operate. We work with our clients to really understand their business, providing practical solutions and explaining complex technical concepts clearly and effectively. It means understanding and keeping up with a rapidly changing international tax system alongside teams from across RSM’s global transfer pricing specialist network.
What can you expect?
With us, you’ll be involved in transfer pricing projects from day one. You will take part in functional analysis interviews, financial modelling, benchmarking transactions, writing reports and defending transfer pricing policies. You will get hands-on, practical experience as part of an experienced specialist team, working on a wide variety of clients from rapidly expanding businesses to large, established multinationals.
With our support you’ll have the space to grow professionally so you can confidently take on ever-more challenging tasks. You will have access to on-the-job mentoring and train towards a professional tax qualification. Through our expert training programmes, you will work towards the CTA qualification through the Joint Programme route (ACA/CTA). We are committed to ensuring that the route through to qualification is the best for you as an individual and maximises your potential. Alongside your technical training, you will attend internal developmental training courses to ensure you have the professional and personal skills to become a trusted Chartered Tax Advisor and genuine subject matter expert.
As you come towards the end of your studies, you’ll have a good working understanding of transfer pricing. This will be reflected in the complexity of your projects and your responsibilities, including contributing to the sales process and mentoring more junior members of the team.
What we look for
Transfer pricing is an analytical discipline. We look for graduates with commercial curiosity – people who are quick to learn, interested in how businesses work and why they succeed. People who look at a problem and ask “why” as well as “what”. Financially and numerically literate people who know their way around a spreadsheet and can pick key information out of company accounts. People who can confidently explain complex ideas in conversation and in written reports, who can adapt their communication style to be understood by experts or by someone who has never heard of transfer pricing before. We also look for team players who enjoy interacting with others.
If that sounds like you, we know you’ll enjoy being part of our team.
