Job description

Our mission is to provide excellent software solutions for Service Fabric – a strategic set of global cloud-based digital services which power Sage’s business applications across a broad range of markets / geographies.

This is a great opportunity to work as a Graduate Architect in a dynamic architecture team responsible for defining and delivering the architecture for these digital capabilities, working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to a Technical Architect, the Graduate Architect will be required to understand the business requirements and contribute to defining the technical architecture enabling Sage’s business plans and long-term objectives. This role will be working in a supportive and collaborative architecture team, and will initially involve shadowing and learning, whilst taking responsibility for smaller, well-defined tasks, which will grow in both size and complexity over time.

The Graduate Architect’s primary focus will be on gaining the required skills and knowledge to become an effective and productive member of the architecture team and will help to design and deliver high quality cloud-based products and services. In addition, there will be opportunities to complete short assignments to gain experience in key aspects of the software delivery lifecycle (e.g. software engineering, testing, project management, and devops).

Key responsibilities

  • Support lead architects on high-profile projects, products and services – directly impacting upon the future strategic growth of Sage
  • Take ownership of smaller, well-defined architecture tasks, which will grow in both size and complexity over time.
  • Create/maintain technical architecture documentation to a high quality.
  • Look to increase both technical ability and domain knowledge through short assignments in all aspects of the software delivery lifecycle (e.g. software engineering, testing, project management, devops)
  • Complete training in both architecture and the wider software delivery lifecycle.
  • Keep up to date with relevant technology areas.

Skills, know-how and experience

Must have

  • Good numerical reasoning and logic ability with problem solving skills
  • Be an active and enthusiastic team player
  • Demonstrable desire for learning and self-progression
  • Good communication skills

Entry Requirements

A relevant STEM or tech-related degree such as computer science, IT, Information Systems, etc. supported by a keen interest in pursuing a career in Software Development.
