Who we're looking for

Schroders' trainee programme is your chance to gain a year of hands-on, paid work experience. If you've just finished your A-levels or your BTECs then this programme provides you with a chance to explore the world of work. We also accept applications from graduates.
       
Although you may have never heard of Cazenove Capital (the wealth management and charity arm of Schroders) before visiting our website, this traineeship could be for you because key to the purpose of the programme is to teach you about what, why and how, we conduct our business.

As a trainee, you will receive ongoing training designed to enhance your development, where you will have the chance to improve your skills and finesse your technical knowledge. We will support you to take the Investment Foundation Certificate, which is a professional industry qualification and you'll be paid competitively for this role.

About Schroders Wealth (Cazenove Capital)

The base

We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We're close to our clients, in the heart of the UK's financial centre. We offer flexible working appropriate for a client solutions focussed role. You will join as as part of the Investment20/20 programme, you will have opportunities to meet and network with others across the industry and participate in training, socials and insight events.

The Wealth Management team

We provide a full range of services including discretionary asset management, custody and execution services, cash management, financial planning, deposit-taking and specialised lending.

We have a broad investment service offering, giving us the ability to offer clients a truly tailored service including the ability to offer Private Asset portfolios. Sustainability is at the heart of our investment approach and is an area in which we have had dedicated expertise for over 20 years.

What you'll do

You will spend your 12 month programme on rotation across various Wealth Management departments:

Wealth Planning

The Wealth Planning team work hand in hand with the Private Client teams and is responsible for the delivery and processing of financial advice to clients. This may include: liaising with product providers to process or obtain policy information, assisting in building client profiles used in the provision of advice, helping with the due diligence processes around product selection. You will also learn about the importance of maintaining up to date and accurate client data, assisting with the creation of advice documents and research to support the process.

Middle Office – Operations

You will spend some time working in the engine room of the Wealth Management business. The main objective will be to gain a good overview of the Middle Office functions to include, Cash Operations, Client Static Data, Digital Applications Support, Product Management & Performance. This will be achieved through time spent with a dedicated team for day to day work together with allocated sessions with individual teams.

Wealth Management – Client Facing

You will work with one of our client facing teams: Private Clients, Charities, Family Office Services, or Business Owners and Entrepreneurs and will gain a valuable insight into how Cazenove looks after its clients. Your rotation will provide a deeper insight into our investment process and give you a greater understanding of markets and portfolio construction. Day to day tasks will include:  portfolio management, reporting and preparation for client meetings.

Middle Office – Account opening team

You will work with our specialist account opening teams who handle all the logistics of onboarding new clients and opening accounts for them. You will learn about the documentation required to open a new account, meeting not only stringent regulatory requirements, but our own detailed questions to ensure that we are meeting our clients' needs in the most appropriate way. During your rotation, you will learn about the importance of prioritisation and the need for attention to detail.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

•    Although we usually ask you to have achieved at least 96 UCAS points to be eligible for this role, we appreciate the need to be flexible given the on-going pandemic and disruption to your school/ college life. If you've achieved a little under 96 UCAS points in the academic year 21/22, we would still encourage you to apply 
•    You must be 18 years old by Monday 5 September to apply for the 2022 intake
