Who we're looking for

We're looking for numerate and analytical students to join our Tax division on our 2022 Summer Internship Programme.      

Our Tax intern Programme is the perfect start for someone interested in learning more about a career in tax as well as being a great way to develop technical and commercial skills.

The department     

Our Group Tax department supports and advises our business globally on all tax related matters and is organised into five different sub-teams: Corporate Tax, Transfer Pricing, Indirect Tax, Product Tax and Private Assets. With increased public interest in tax matters and ever-changing tax regulations, our work is vital. 

The programme

Our 2022 Summer Internship Programme starts on Monday 20 June 2022 and runs for 8 weeks ending on Friday 12 August 2022. This Programme will provide you with a unique introduction into the investment management industry and how the Tax department operates within it. You'll be given introductory training and opportunities to network with people across the business.

As an intern in the Tax department you will be given an introduction to all kinds of taxes with a focus on the investment management industry.     

You'll be encouraged to build relationships with people across the business and grow your understanding of tax in a business context. 

Some of the tasks you might be involved in include:    

  • Assisting in the completion of tax compliance obligations
  • Analysing data and using it within tax processes
  • Working with the business to understand the impact of tax changes
  • Forming good working relationships with other teams and offices
  • Communicating, explaining and escalating issues and ideas within the Group Tax team and the wider business

What you'll be like     

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Numerate and analytical – you'll have solid numerical skills and a high attention to detail
  • Organised, diligent and methodical 
  • Collaborative and flexible - happy to get involved in variety of tasks and projects
  • Enthusiasm, focus and willingness to work hard
  • Positive and hands-on approach to new tasks and subject matter
  • A growth mindset: we understand you may make mistakes, and when you do, we are looking for you to learn from these.

The knowledge, skills and qualifications we're looking for

  • A 2:1 honours degree or equivalent – an economics or business focussed degree preferable but not essential
  • Penultimate year of study or in final year of study if planning to continue further studies (i.e Masters)
