Technology Industrial Placement Year Programme 2022

Who we're looking for

We're looking for analytical and innovative undergraduates to join our Technology division on our 2022 Placement Year Programme designed for students who require a year industry as part of their degree.

Technology sits at the heart of what we do from providing creative solutions to designing and developing cutting edge products. You'll work on a range of initiatives, which will allow you to broaden your expertise and discover which area of technology you enjoy the most. You'll be eager to learn and keen to throw yourself into a variety of projects.

The department

Our Technology department spans the entire business and is made up of several teams and divisions distributed across Schroders’ global offices, with Technology hubs in London, Luxembourg, New York, Singapore and Zurich. Our teams are:     

The software development and technology function is split between 5 business-facing technology domains: 

• Corporate Technology
• Digital, Distribution and Marketing Technology
• Investment Technology
• Operations and Private Assets Technology
• Wealth Management Technology domain     

In addition there are teams which operate as shared services to Technology namely:     

• Enterprise Technology (comprising our Architecture, Cloud, Data, Delivery and Engineering practices) 
• Infrastructure and Production Services (including production support, release and access control)
• Information Security and Risk
• GT Management Office in which sit our Business Management teams and our Chief of Staff.

The Programme

As a Placement student, you'll gain experience in one of the below teams:     

Investment Technology: You'll work with a team of enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about data analytics in a financial context and evolving our investment platform.  They're also keen on driving positive technology change at Schroders.  The team are located on-desk, where there's strong collaboration and co-creation with the quants and portfolio managers for both research and production activities.      

Enterprise Technology: the Enterprise Data function within Enterprise Technology. This function exists to drive the way Schroders sources, manages, stores and consumes high-quality data to provide business value. Enterprise Data applies the enterprise lens to all data initiatives, from data governance, to master data management and metadata management. The team own the Group-wide logical data model, the data governance practice and are responsible for creating and driving the data strategy. We are a friendly, supportive and collaborative team who work in partnership with all other functions across Global Technology (GT).

The knowledge, skills and qualifications we're looking for

• A predicted 2:1 honours degree or equivalent preferably in a STEM degree
