Following exceptional client growth, we have an exciting opportunity for Graduate R&D Tax Consultant to join our Research & Development/Tax Innovations team.

Based within either our Leeds or Manchester offices, we are looking for science, engineering or software graduates, who have either recently graduated or are looking for a career change after 2-3 years in their current role, to join our growing R&D tax team at Sedulo.

The UK offers valuable tax incentives for companies undertaking research and development. As a member of the Sedulo R&D team, you will work with innovative companies across a wide range of sectors, helping their senior technical staff to identify the full extent of R&D activity being performed and ensuring that the companies claim the amount to which they are entitled.

Day-to-day responsibilities

You will be responsible for the efficient and successful delivery of R&D / Innovation tax services to clients including but not limited to;

  • Advising clients regarding the technical application of the R&D eligibility requirements (as set out in the BEIS Guidelines) to the projects undertaken by their company
  • Preparing documentation that illustrates how the company projects fulfill the eligibility requirements.
  • As a member of the Sedulo R&D tax team, you will assist in the quantification of the claims, ensuring that the appropriate costs are incorporated into the claims.
  • Build relationships both internally and externally with clients in order to identify new R&D related opportunities while managing client expectations throughout
  • Contribute to winning new work by proactively seeking opportunities for new business and providing a world-class service to existing clients
  • Assist with the successful delivery of R&D tax projects, delivering technical excellence through a proactive and business-driven approach.

What we're looking for

  • Enthusiastic technologists, able to think on their feet in a client facing role.
  • Strong writing skills and able to prepare accurate technical documentation and reports that flow, are grammatically correct and free from spelling mistakes.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and a continuous improvement ethos.
  • Working as part of a team, taking ownership and responsibility for quality and timeliness of overall team output.
  • Project management and communication to ensure that your individual client engagements are handled efficiently and that the overall team portfolio of clients is managed effectively.
  • Ability to identify areas of risk, carry out an effective review and know when to refer upwards.
  • Relationship management skills with ability to manage client expectations.
