We are a full service major UK law firm offering you an experience in a variety of areas including commercial, banking & finance, corporate, litigation services and real estate to name a few.

In addition to these we have many other practice areas which may offer seats on a slightly less regular basis and may include intellectual property, EU & competition law, pensions, insurance, regulatory & compliance, planning, construction and engineering.

Trainee seats

We don't have any compulsory seats, but you must sit within three distinct areas of law consisting of at least one non-contentious, and one contentious area in line with the SRA (Solicitors Regulation Authority) requirements.

We allocate no more than one trainee to each team, which means you will enjoy high levels of involvement with your team, and are given good quality work and contact with clients.

In our opinion the best way to learn is in practice, that's why you'll be given responsibility and your own case files to manage at an early stage.

Over two years you will complete four six-month seats, one of which could be a secondment to a client's in-house legal team. A client secondment aims to give you experience of being on a client site as well as providing a challenging and exciting variety of legal work.

The tasks that you will undertake are engaging, interesting and often with familiar topics, brands and products with which you can easily identify.

Thirteen UK locations

We have a network of UK locations: Belfast, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Nottingham, Sheffield, Solent & Thames Valley  We do not currently offer training contracts or placements in Belfast, Glasgow or Sheffield.

The Professional Skills Course is the final training course on your journey to become a lawyer. We have a dedicated PSC provider and courses are arranged in-house throughout your first year as a trainee. These are also a great opportunity for the entire trainee year to meet up on a residential for a social and good food.

As a trainee you will take an active role in corporate responsibility from your very first week. You will be supported to create and drive new initiatives in your office. Read more on our firm blog SHOUTback.
