The role

As a Graduate Civil/Structural Design Engineer, you will join the Skanska Technology (ST) busy and successful team, where we provide in-house Engineering Design and Consultancy support to a variety of Operating Units in Skanska UK and Skanska Global. ST provides Civil, Structural and Infrastructure design services for a wide range of design and build projects.

The team provides sustainable design solutions for all aspects of Civil and structural engineering and provides other technical advice. The team has implemented in the last few years a way of working based on Building Information Modelling (BIM) using primarily Revit. The team involvement is from feasibility through to construction on a variety of projects which include schools, hospitals, custodial, highway structures, commercial developments, waste to energy, and other industrial schemes.

What you’ll do

  • Develop your skills in the design of civil and structural engineering
  • Obtain a good working knowledge of UK standards, specifications and best practice
  • Be responsible for assisting senior members of the team to deliver technical design information including reports, drawings and specifications for Civil and Structural Engineering projects
  • You will be required to understand the company strategy and to promote the positive culture in respect to enabling successful projects, health & safety, sustainability, ethics, and quality
  • Ensure that your work in the team complies with current legislation, the Skanska Integrated Management System, the Skanska Code of Conduct and good practice guidance

Who you are

  • Studying towards or having completed a Civil Engineering degree, accredited by ICE
  • You will have an appreciation and knowledge of the engineering principles that lie behind civil and structural engineering design
  • Ability to communicate new concepts and ideas to both technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Basic knowledge of software relevant to design in the civil and structural engineering field, such as SCIA, or Robot, and Navisworks would be an advantage
  • Appreciation of relevant design standards and regulations would be an advantage
  • Values driven and passionate about sustainability
  • Keen desire to learn
