As our Accounting Analyst for Inventory and Variable SGA (Selling, General, and Administration), you will be an aspiring Accountant, a self-starter, who will deliver accurate and complete financial reporting, as well as support improvement initiatives in your Group reporting function. You will

Relating to the area of Inventory & Variable Selling, General & Administration expenses – expressly without limiting to areas of; Inventory costing, Impairment of stock (Devaluation), Inbound/Outbound Logistics, Duties & Levies, Advertisement & Promotions, Sales Commission, Contingencies & Commitments provisions.

Record-to-Report

  • Maintain accurate and complete General and Special Purpose Ledger accounting and integrity of financial statements.
  • Prepare, review and co-ordinate as needed monthly closing cycle with business input, in line with the central timetable;
  • Prepare and review as needed the calculation, review and approval of journal postings, accruals and provisions, deferred elements etc.in line with Sony policy.
  • Co-ordinate responses to queries related to financial accounting and standard reporting.
  • Prepare and Review BS reconciliations and ensure all balances are reconciled and validated.
  • Function as support for Central Operations and BPO as internal customers in defining and delivering financial reporting requirements.
  • Ensure month end close processes are delivered to support WD2 financial reporting and facilitate clear variance reporting against forecast and budget, and prior periods.
  • Maintain clear channel of communications with business groups and marketing organisations to facilitate WD2 close and one-time submission of SEU reporting.

Controllership (Actual)

  • Review and approval of journal (accruals & provisions etc.) postings within own area of responsibility prepared by Off-shore and other parts of the Finance community.
  • Support and coordinate additional transition of activities to BPO and preparation of handover and related work instructions (DPMs)

Financial / Technical Compliance

  • Liaise with the Statutory and Compliance team to ensure all finance and commercial activities under remit in the business comply with the effective application of agreed Sony Corporate Accounting Policy and SOX controls.
  • Support basic accounting guidance under Corporate Accounting Policy/IFRS in verbal and written format to Business as and when needed under the supervision of line manager.

Procedures and Governance Systems

  • Identify and support implementation process improvements and Automation (RPA) that maximise efficiency and improve service to the front-line business
  • Support document retention in line with Sony policy and legal requirements.
  • Support reporting to Europe & Tokyo senior management is carried out in timely manner, addressing key areas such as commercial investment, bad debt, fixed assets, payroll and related bonus, compensated absence accruals and pension schemes accounting, etc. managing technical accounting compliance on operational basis within SEU
  • Support Compliance Team in ensuring reporting to Europe & Tokyo senior management is carried out in timely manner, addressing key focus areas in order to ensure technical accounting compliance on operational basis within SEU.
  • Identify, communicate and support to resolve any issues which might affect Finance Accounting performance levels or reporting.

You will have

  • An early part qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or international equivalent), or a relevant Business/Analytical Degree

  • Experience of IFRS advantageous
  • Related system experience advantageous i.e. SAP
  • Proven academic record and career drive
