Job purpose

Our core IT infrastructure teams are transitioning to an automation first approach, combining the best practices from DevOps and Infrastructure delivery. As an IT Operations engineer you will be helping build our core automation capability, exploring automated deployment, event-based triggers and Infrastructure as Code (IAC). Like many organizations we have a mix of cloud and legacy technologies, enabling these systems to interact is core part of the IT automation journey.

You will be embedded the core IT infrastructure Team, working with senior engineers and given the tools to succeed in a very fast-paced learning-focused environment.

Main duties

  • Identify automation opportunities which either introduce innovation or reduce engineer effort
  • Build and deployment of infrastructure as code
  • Present and educate the wider team on automation platforms
  • Design and document automation stories
  • Building tooling which helps with the delivery of IT infrastructure, for example automated log file analysis

Skills & Experience

  • Programming skills in Python (preferred)
  • Understanding and awareness of Cybersecurity
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly and apply them to the role
  • Able to work autonomously whilst working collaboratively within the wider team environment

Desirable

  • Experience managing Linux or Windows
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS and PKI
  • System modelling language, for example UML
  • AWS
  • GitHub
