South Wales Police is excited to launch our 2022 Intern Programme; we are looking for people with diverse skills and experiences to join our successful team.

This is an excellent opportunity for applicants who are looking for a 12 month work placement to join a specialist department and gain work experience and training.

In joining #TeamSWP you will be joining a leading force and one where you will be able to contribute new ideas and work to make a difference in society.

South Wales Police particularly welcomes applicants from under-represented groups.

Do you have a passion for history and heritage?

This is a unique opportunity for a confident and well-organised graduate or person with equivalent experience and training to help a small team to manage the day-to-day requirements of South Wales Police Heritage Centre and to help tell the stories of our past; stories and a history we are proud to share with the communities we serve. A commitment to heritage and ‘passing it on’ is essential.

This hands-on role supports the aims and objectives of the Heritage Centre, which are to conserve and interpret the history of the organisation and deliver an excellent visitor experience for the public especially schools and colleges. The post holder will be working with staff, volunteers and partners to help devise, promote and manage group visits, talks and events, as well as helping staff expand the schools program and volunteering base.

The role combines practical administration with training in databases, archiving & conservation, research and planning, as well as internal and external engagement and an opportunity to further develop a range of marketing opportunities.

For the right candidate the role should prove an all-round stepping stone to a future career in the field as well as playing a critical part in ensuring that the heritage of South Wales Police is shared with future generations.

About the role

The internship will be for 12 months and provide an excellent opportunity to gain an insight into life within South Wales Police and work for the busiest force in Wales.

Please note that you cannot apply if you have already undertaken an internship with South Wales Police.

All applicants will have to complete pre-employment checks.
