An exciting Southampton based high-tech start-up company backed by a global water technology platform provider is currently searching for a capable and enthusiastic Sensor Manufacturing Technician / Graduate Engineer.

You will be responsible for working with the company’s engineers to carry out production assembly and testing, as well as supporting ongoing product development and prototyping.

Main duties

  • Assembling delicate/precision electromechanical/fluidic modules
  • Carrying out production testing – at both module and product level – using test software/interfaces
  • Working closely with other engineers to generate assembly methods, documentation and fixtures, as well as developing and applying Quality Control/test procedures
  • Operating 3D-printing and other tools for rapid prototyping
  • Post-processing components for integration

Key requirements

  • Manufacturing/assembly experience
  • A good standard of workmanship
  • Skilled in the use of common hand tools/pillar drill etc.
  • Organised with good attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision
  • Flexible approach and ability to quickly learn and apply new skills and processes
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • The ability to learn to operate bespoke control/test software is essential, whilst experience in using industrial/scientific user interfaces would be an advantage
  • The ability to carry out some soldering (e.g. making/modifying test cables) may be helpful; therefore soldering experience or a willingness to develop this skill would be beneficial
  • Experience working alongside a multidisciplinary product development team would be beneficial

Candidates who may be considered will either:

Have previous experience in or with job titles including: Assembly Technician, Production Technician, Test Technician, Assembly Operative, Production Operative

or

Be a recent graduate in a relevant engineering field, with hands-on manufacturing experience.
