Commercial Graduate Programmes
What is the role?
We are delighted to offer a number of graduate opportunities focussed on business and commercial disciplines. This is an exciting opportunity to really put your learning into practice, and develop practical skills in an environment where you'll be fully supported and encouraged to be your best.
Due to our size and diversity of our business, we can offer you a structured yet challenging development programme where you'll have the support of a Graduate Programme Manager and a business mentor to assist you in reaching your full potential. The programme will support your career development into a permanent role with SSE that reflects your experience and passion.
Working within a variety of SSE business areas, you'll be at the forefront of seeing how our business operates. You'll be involved in projects and activities that help us ensure our business is not only running effectively but is continually utilising innovative and commercially viable new technologies and efficient ways of providing energy to all customers.
All roles are likely to involve some travel to other sites to gain practical exposure to a wide range of business areas, therefore a full UK OR ROI driving licence would be an advantage but is not essential.
What do I need to join?
For this programme, you'll ideally have a minimum of a 2:2 degree in a commercial or innovative degree discipline. This may include but is not limited to Digital, Data & Analytics, Innovation, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting & Finance, Commerce, Legal, Procurement, Statistics or other business-related discipline.
We'd love you to have practical work or project experience that reflects your passion for business, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. You'll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges.
You should have an interest in the energy sector, and show alignment with SSE's core values. We also ask that you have a flexible approach to work locations and be genuinely committed to developing a career with us – as we are with you.
About our Business
We are driven by our purpose: to provide energy needed today while building a better world of energy for tomorrow. We are a leading generator of renewable electricity in the UK and Ireland and one of the largest electricity network companies in the UK. We develop, own and operate low carbon infrastructure to support the zero-carbon transition. This includes onshore and offshore wind, hydro power, electricity transmission and distribution grids, efficient gas and energy from waste, alongside providing energy products and services for businesses.
Our twin focus of practicality and inspiration is a strategy that has seen us through more than 70 years. And today, we are UK-listed in the FTSE100 and contribute around £9bn to the economy. As a real Living Wage and Fair Tax Mark accredited company, we employ 12,000 talented and skilled people across the UK and Ireland. Because we’re SSE, and we’re for a better world of energy – for everyone.
