We're proud to have been a Principal Partner for COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference, and are leading the way to provide the energy needed now, while building a better world of energy for tomorrow.

To reach net zero by 2050, we're looking for graduates who can bring big ideas, new skills and innovative thinking to help us build a world that's more sustainable and inclusive for you, your family, the community you live in and for generations to come.

So join us on our journey to net zero. Help us power change.

What will I do on the programme?

Distribution has opportunities for Renewable Energy or Electrical Engineering graduates to support projects across our Distribution business. You'll get to enjoy contributing to some exciting projects where you'll be at the forefront of developing, improving and maintaining our network. You'll be involved in projects and activities that help us ensure our network is not only running effectively, but also is considering innovative new technologies and efficient ways of providing energy to all customers.

Across the two years of the programme, you’ll gain real hands-on experience, build an invaluable network and develop a unique set of skills which will shape your career. Due to our size and diversity, we can offer you a structured yet challenging development programme where you'll have the support of the Graduate Programme Manager and a business mentor to assist you in reaching your full potential. The programme will support your career development into a permanent role with SSE that reflects your experience and passion.

You will be involved in a broad range of exciting projects across the UK and/or Ireland.

Locations

  • Scotland - Aberdeen, Fort William, Glasgow, Islay, Inverness, Oban, Perth, Peterhead and Shetland
  • England - Aldershot, Melksham, Oxford, Portsmouth, Poole, Reading, Southampton and Slough

Circa £30,500, plus a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

What do I need to join?

We'd love you to have practical work or project experience that reflects your passion for the role, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. You'll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges.

You should have an interest in the energy sector and show alignment with SSE's core values. We also ask that you have a flexible approach to work locations and be genuinely committed to developing a career with us – as we are with you.

All roles are likely to involve some travel to other sites to gain practical exposure to a wide range of business areas, therefore a full UK driving licence would be an advantage but is not essential.
