The Strategy Graduate Programme:

Assessment Centre: Friday 9th January 2026

The Strategy Graduate Programme within our Chief Executive Office (CEO) Function is a one-year programme and offers and excellent grounding in the fundamental principles of corporate strategy and transformation. Based in our offices in London Paddington, you will work in a small team who work on strategy and transformation projects across the breadth of St James’s Place.

You’ll work closely with experienced individuals in both the Strategy and Results Delivery Office (RDO) teams, gaining exposure to reporting (including data analysis and visualisation), value delivery, programme orchestration, issue management and project oversight. Our team provide thought leadership to stakeholders across SJP, working on real projects and responsibilities that will drive our corporate strategy and in turn build your confidence and capability in a commercial environment.

All graduate positions are offered on a permanent contract. Upon successful completion of the programme, individuals continue in their roles within the organisation, equipped with the experience and insight gained throughout the Graduate Programme.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct market and competitor analysis focused on the wealth management industry
  • Support strategy working group and business area leads to run ideation workshops on strategic direction on key topics
  • Prepare session content for Strategy workshops with senior stakeholders
  • Building relationships with key stakeholders, including project team members, board members and employees across our business
  • Data analysis and data visualization in Powerpoint, Excel and PowerBI to compile presentations and reports with recommendations for senior stakeholders
  • Using research, data and relationships to structure arguments and influence stakeholders across our business
  • Outline financial cost-benefit case associated with key strategic options coming out of strategy research and analysis
  • Support other members of the team in all aspects of the transformation agenda, including programme orchestration, prioritisation, transformation business case, value identification and tracking, and issue management.
  • Support other members of the team in oversight of strategic projects.
  • Support the management of interdependencies.
  • Work with internal Client/Partnership/Comms engagement teams to run Client/Partnership/Employee testing as needed to support strategic conversations on future direction
  • Support the Chief of Staff within the CEO office with company-wide matters from time to time
  • Support the preparation of executive level reports, including board papers and packs, updates to the Group Executive Committee, Board Risk Committee and Board.
  • Support internal reporting as required.

  • A degree in any discipline
  • Comfortable working with numbers and excel skills.
  • You will be able to structure a problem, carry out analysis and identify potential solutions.
  • You will be able to assimilate large quantities of information to build broad a understanding, and apply findings to solving complex problems. You should therefore be skilled at data analysis and able to present data in an easy-to-digest format
  • You will be self-motivated, and capable of working in a quickly changing, complex environment.
  • You will have strong systemic, critical and strategic thinking skills.
  • You will be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and imperfect information, and able to draw conclusions with appropriate communication of any limitations.
  • You will have the ability to build strong, productive relationships across the business and will be comfortable communication with senior stakeholders including board members. These relationships are critical to enabling you to gather insight.
  • You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will be able to clearly communicate complex information.
  • Ability to influence others

Special Requirements:

You will be required to work most of your working week in our London office with regular travel to our offices across the UK, most notably our head office in Cirencester where other members of the team and key stakeholders are based.

This programme is due to last for one year. If your right to work is based on a Visa that will expire before the end of the programme, it may not be possible to employ you in the role as at present, this programme does not meet the minimum salary thresholds required for skilled worker visa sponsorship under the UK Home Office guidelines.
