The Role

Our ICT teams are responsible for the provision of Information Technology  service to our customer and our employees; from the business systems that power the back office to the front line support and operation systems that produce steel.

As a member of our ICT team, you could be working within services and projects that secure our data and systems from external attacks through to leading the design and implementation of new 21st century systems using the latest technology available in both cloud and hybrid cloud.

Perhaps you want to pursue a career where you capture business requirements and turn them into thrilling real world IT solutions. Or perhaps you would prefer to be at the heart of ICT managing the operations and services. The possibilities are as broad and far-ranging as our business; what remains constant is the career-making, in-depth experience you’ll gain of our business-critical functions.

You will be at least a Bachelor’s degree graduate which has a mathematical or computer content. This could be a Management degree through to a Computer Science degree. The key to the role is that you need to be a natural problem-solver who is able to define the requirements of the problem, be able to systematically gather and analyse data and identify cause & effects in order to work towards achievable, realistic, timely and cost-wise solutions.

Much of your work will be client-facing to our business or our customers, so excellent interpersonal skills are vital. You will also be facing many of our IT Suppliers in ensuring that they deliver to their obligations. You should be driven, passionate and tenacious. Your strong sense of personal accountability is bolstered by your eye for the bigger picture. Outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to inspire trust among your customers and equally with our IT suppliers, and build engagement with those people is essential.
