We are looking for a Software Architect for a 12-month industrial placement within our Company.

You will be working on our Next Generation Terminal Operating System product that utilises cutting edge technologies and that has a modern microservice based architecture.

Container terminals are a complex domain making the design both challenging and rewarding. You will work in a relaxed, friendly and supportive atmosphere as part of our close-knit architecture team who work alongside our scaled development teams.

What are we looking for?

We are undergoing continued and substantial growth, including at the graduate level. We are looking for individuals with a desire to learn and who have a passion for producing quality software using common design patterns. Naturally having an analytical approach and an eagerness to explore new technologies is essential too.

  • You will hold a good set of A levels, or equivalent, and be currently studying a BSc Honours Degree, MSc Degree or equivalent in Software Architecture or a similar discipline.
  • Highest ethics and integrity with a proactive attitude
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as a detail-oriented approach
  • Good interpersonal skills and enthusiasm to collaborate closely with colleagues
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English
  • Extracurricular activities that demonstrate a desire to learn new technologies and skills
  • Knowledge of software architecture and common software design patterns
  • Experience in software development, preferably using C#, Microsoft .Net Core and EF Core

Knowledge of any of the following would also be advantageous:

  • Domain Driven Design
  • Microservices architecture
  • Message broker technologies (e.g. ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ)
  • SQL Server Database Systems
  • NoSQL databases, especially MongoDB
  • Microsoft Visual Studio

Key Responsibilities

  • Be involved with making informed and intuitive decisions about the design and structure of our Terminal Operating System software.
  • Collaborate with product owners, functional experts (SME’s) and occasionally our customers, to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software.
  • Use industry recognised tools and methodologies to capture, document and share your concepts and designs with the development teams.
  • Collaboratively define the key non-functional requirements for the solution including the appropriate technology, security, flexibility, scalability, responsiveness and performance.
  • Monitor progress and output of the development teams to ensure the developed solution remains consistent with the initial design.
  • Work closely with colleagues from other TBA software streams and 3rd parties where integration is required to surrounding applications and systems.
