During your paid, 10-week programme you'll be at the heart of our decision making, planning and co-ordinating the development and/or deployment of technology solutions in a safe and sustainable way. You'll work collaboratively with multiple teams across the business to find the best solutions for our customers, including communicating, planning and delivering them effectively. You'll ensure our solutions align to strategic goals, manage risks, create plans and track progress, working with software engineers and partners.

You’ll have the opportunity to deliver part of a real project, enabling you to develop your programme skills, such as influencing business partners, managing complicated plans and communicating effectively within technical programmes of work. You’ll work with technology specialists across the globe, learn on the job and be supported to give you great skills and experience.

No two days are the same in our Technology team. You could be planning the rollout of our new checkouts to 2000+ stores, co-ordinating the development of a new payroll system or working on the development of brand-new mobile apps for our customers. Technology continues to change the face of retail and ours leads the way.

A successful internship with us can guarantee your place on our Technology Programme graduate programme when you graduate - before you’ve even started your final year of study!

Who we are looking for

We're looking for interns with a strong technical understanding, a drive to take on complex projects and a passion for clear, effective communication and problem-solving. You’ll enjoy working as part of a team, be a great communicator and enjoy delivery and fast-paced change. We want our interns to have an enthusiasm for technology and an appetite to take on our biggest challenges.

What’s the difference between Product and Programme?

A Product Manager will translate customer problems into pieces of development for a technology product, working closely with software engineers, whilst also looking at the bigger picture of the product roadmap, strategy & vision. A Technical Programme Manager will collaborate with all affected teams to create a plan, manage technical risks, issues and dependencies, communicate with all partners and generally co-ordinate the technical aspects of a piece of work.

Working at our Welwyn Garden City campus

Our leafy, green campus is just 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of Welwyn Garden City with its many shops, restaurants, pubs and sports facilities. Close to the A1, and with frequent trains running to Finsbury Park in just 20 minutes (free shuttle buses take you between the station and office), the campus is well connected to the surrounding area.

On campus you’ll find subsidised restaurants and coffee shops, as well as a Tesco Express to pick up your lunch or last-minute essentials. You can join the on-site Nuffield Health gym, which has state-of-the-art fitness equipment, two studios for group classes, plus treatment rooms.

Your experience with us

Induction

We’ll kick off with a two-day induction, where you’ll learn more about our business and your programme. It’s a great opportunity for you to meet your fellow interns. We’ll then introduce you to your team, so you can get to know more about your role and the area you’ll be working in.

Store experience

You’ll spend two days out of your ten weeks working in one of our stores. The time you spend there will help you to learn how our stores operate, how they link to your role or project and help you to understand our customers, so you can serve them a little better every day.

Programme structure

You’ll gain real-life experience by completing part of a project, working collaboratively with other colleagues. Although you’ll be based in one area for the duration of your internship, you’ll get an insight into the breadth of opportunities at Tesco.

Where next?

Throughout your internship, you’ll be encouraged to develop skills and gain experience that will support you in your future career. You’ll also receive valuable feedback on how you’ve performed during your 10 weeks to help understand your strengths and areas to develop further.

Application deadline

We recruit on a rolling basis, which means roles will be filled on a first come first served approach, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
