In order to achieve our ambitious goals, we need to ensure the best IT solutions are made available throughout The Charity. From providing team members with the equipment they need, to extending the functionality of our CRM system, through to collaborating with all departments to scope and partake in pioneering new projects — the team have a broad remit and play a critical role, enabling everyone in The Charity to work effectively and efficiently. And this is where you come in! We’re offering a year long placement to a pro-active and positive-thinking person who wants to kickstart their career in IT. During your year with us you’ll be nurtured to develop your IT administration and work skills by being fully involved in a wonderfully wide range of tasks and activities. This is a brilliant opportunity for a digitally minded and talented person on their placement year, or at the beginning of their IT career to gain experience at the centre of a small and busy team.
This placement starts July 2025.
What we're looking for
You’ll be a highly motivated individual with a penchant for everything IT; curious to explore and learn about new technologies and comfortable to embrace our processes to enable you to work in an agile environment to expertly meet the needs of The Charity. With a warm and engaging manner, you’ll have excellent written and oral communication skills, be confident to build relationships and support team members at all levels and across all channels (face to face, phone, email) and will be passionate about developing your skills to support the wider team to use our IT systems and services, including our CRM (Salesforce) and Microsoft 365 environment. The Brain Tumour Charity is moving at a fast pace so we’re looking for someone with enthusiasm and passion for our work and a conviction to deliver positive outcomes for those who are affected by this devastating disease.
What you'll do
- Take part in the IT team’s daily Scrums to triage requests, share ideas and discuss solutions
- Utilise the ticketing system as the centralised tool to communicate and provide solutions to requests
- Collaborate in IT projects across the organisation
- Collaborate with our IT support provider to enable users
- Assist with the onboarding and offboarding of IT systems and services when team members, volunteers and contractors join or leave The Charity (or move teams or roles), ensuring the process is efficient and the experience is outstanding
- Assist with keeping the Asset Register up to date
- Provision and maintenance of The Charity’s hardware
- Assist with producing system documentation, project briefs and reports
- Collaborate with IT partners on projects and tasks
- Provide IT-related support to all functions across The Charity

Experience
- Confident IT user with strong computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office and Windows environments
- Working to and delivering targets and evaluating results
- Developing and documenting processes and systems
- Working as part of a team and contributing to group and individual targets
- Working with a range of people, remotely or face-to-face, understanding their needs and delivering communication in an efficient and empathetic way
- Participating in the strategic development of IT services and systems as well as the day-to-day running of them
- Confident in adopting a solution orientated, collaborative approach
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Understanding of CRM systems
- Comfortable setting and working within SLAs
- Familiar with Ticketing/support systems
- Operating within a Microsoft environment
- Understanding of user hardware requirements
- Organised, self-starter and capable of taking initiative
- Empathy with the aims, objectives and activities of The Brain Tumour Charity
- Excellent communicator (written, oral and interpersonal)
- A team player with the willingness to work flexibly and proactively and respond to the emerging needs of The Charity
- Live within commutable distance of our office in Fleet
