The production of vehicles and engines in factories has the potential to impact on the environment. Therefore Toyota developed its world-famous Toyota Production System (TPS) several decades ago, to ensure that car manufacturing can make more with less. Over the years, TPS has also evolved to include environmental targets. Join us here and you'll be at the centre of our manufacturing operation bringing the world-famous Toyota Production System (TPS) to life.

You will have the opportunity to learn about concepts like jidoka and just-in-time first-hand from the company that pioneered them. TPS is a lean manufacturing system designed to eliminate waste, reduce costs and keep lead times down - where Toyota has led the way, other manufacturers have followed.

Your time here

Working in Production Control you are key to our supply chain management, so you'll be involved in a number of projects whereby you'll be working with external suppliers, liaising with our members on the shop floor, and overall ensuring that the plant functioning is in line with our key Toyota philosophies. We encourage you to bring your fresh eyes approach to bring the famous Toyota Production System to life - whether that be refining a process from a technical perspective or assessing the environmental impact of a production change.

There is great variety in the roles available. You could be directing thousands of parts from hundreds of suppliers through the plant every day. Or, you might find yourself keeping production lines running smoothly by planning volumes, spotting issues and taking swift action to put things right. It will be challenging and fast-paced, but also invaluable in the skills it can give you. It is a pivotal area within our manufacturing plant which requires graduates to show initiative, resilience and confidence. You’ll also learn supplier management skills as well as developing as a communicator and a problem-solver.

Learning & Development

All graduates will take part in six weeks of line training. This will mean that for those six weeks you will work on an area where we build the cars down on the shop floor. Although tough, this experience is extremely rewarding and interesting and gives you a real hands-on insight into what Toyota Manufacturing is all about. We believe this experience is crucial for your personal development and rather unique to our company.

We place great emphasis on learning by doing - usually through structured, on-the-job training. So, over the course of our programme, you'll find yourself tackling live projects and taking on real responsibilities in your chosen field. Our graduate programme lasts just over 2 years, it is assessed and designed to help you reach the standard needed to move into a specialist position at the end of the programme.

What we look for

We're looking for individuals who will share our values and believe that there's always a better way. So, if you thrive on analysing problems from different angles to develop solutions and take a practical approach to your work, you could go a long way with us.  You should also have a consistently strong academic record, with a minimum 2:1 predicted degree result. Whilst most degree disciplines are acceptable, business (/logistics) related degrees are preferred.
