Help to professionally deliver the department’s internal and external communications strategy.
Write, edit and proofread a range of communications materials including media releases, news articles, social media content, newsletter material and website content for broad range of audiences including the media, policymakers, scientific community and the general public.
Ideal candidates will have experience within communications by crafting compelling content, managing digital channels, and engaging stakeholders to enhance the department’s internal and external reach.
The role
We are seeking a Temporary Information Systems Developer to join a centrally based Oxford University Department. The role will involve collaborating with academic and administrative staff to create and implement system solutions that meet operational needs.
Key duties
- Develop and update online communications for the department, including the department’s intranet, website and social media channels.
- Help to commission and execute ad-hoc digital content such as photography and video content for use across all channels ensuring accessibility and privacy compliance.
- Plan and organise press/media events as part of the communications strategy.
- Select and implement appropriate methods for evaluating communications activities, analysing the results to inform future strategy
Essential criteria
- Excellent writing skills and attention to detail, with a proven ability to communicate complex concepts to a non-specialist audience
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and the ability to inspire the confidence of senior colleagues.
- Ability to work independently in a complex environment, taking initiative when necessary and prioritising effectively to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency working with a range of computer-based and online applications, including website content management systems.
