Purchasing & Production Planning Placement 2022

The position is an opportunity for a Manufacturing or Engineering graduate or undergraduate to benefit from some real-world experience within a manufacturing environment.  At Azenta’s manufacturing facility in Manchester we execute a number of high value projects providing automated storage equipment for compound and biological sample management to leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies.  The business uses Oracle’s latest cloud-based ERP system to manage the material supply chain and production management. This assignment provides an opportunity to gain experience in a variety of functions including procurement, materials management, production planning and manufacturing execution.  The position is within the Automated Stores Operations team, but the incumbent will work in conjunction with different functions within the business including Product Management, Engineering, Production, Sales, IT and Quality Assurance.

Key responsibilities and activities

• Operates as a team member and reports to the Procurement & Production Planning Manager.
• Develop knowledge of Planning & Procurement KPIs using Microsoft Tools and provide reports.
• Work with Production Planners to control the manufacture of sub-assemblies and final project activities.
• Understand Sales Order process assisting planning team
• Works with other members of purchasing team on item commodities to understand Supply Chain processes.
• Develop knowledge of New Product Development (NPI) procurement processes.
• Work with Production Planners to process requirements for additional materials through to shipment of parts to site installations.
• Run multilevel BOMs and shortage reports for expediting.
• Understand and assist with creating Quality Management System (QMS) work instructions .
• Support and training will be provided in use of all business systems.

Skills and Aptitude Profile

• Graduate (or undergraduate) Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or similar.
• Proficient in using Microsoft suit of office tools
• Willingness and ability to learn new systems and process.
• Data and date driven with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
• Highly organized in nature.
• Strong at communicating with different departments at all levels.  Able to compromise and reach consensus when required.
