The role

An opportunity has arisen within VolkerRail for a Graduate Bid Writer working in our Head Office in Doncaster.  This role provides an entry level into the career of bid writing and supports our aim to look for our next generation of future talent.

Key accountabilities

Key duties will include:

  • Draft, review and edit written deliverables for the HSQES elements of tender submissions to score maximise marks based on tender scoring criteria, working with the HSQES team as and when required.
  • Assist in/prepare initial story boards/answer plans for the HSQES elements.
  • Produce/maintain cvs as required.
  • Input into the preparation of HSQES prequalification submissions.
  • *Responsible for operating within the practice and procedures of the Integrated Management System.
  • *To alert Senior Management to any non-conformance or deficiency in quality, materials, service or workmanship.
  • *Liaison and communication with VolkerRail staff and contractors plus all relevant external contacts as required in order to discharge the duties and responsibilities of this JD/SRS.

Skills & experience

You will be self-motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.  Strong communication and excellent organisational skills are a key requirement for this role.

The candidate will also ideally have the following experience/skill set:

  • BA In English or Creative Writing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability and self-confidence to build strong working relationships internally and externally at all levels.
  • Able to manage a diverse workload.
