    The role

    We are looking for an enthusiastic graduate who is keen to join us in our state-of-the-art Wind Tunnel facilities as a graduate electronic controls & systems engineer. You will be working in a supportive and collaborative team to deliver on Wind Tunnel projects using your knowledge of electronics and systems.

    As a Graduate Electronic Controls & Systems Engineer, you will:

    • Work as part of the Aerodynamic Facility Team to develop our testing capability
    • Create and develop wind tunnel model and car systems aimed at improving aerodynamic test technique and capability; through concept and development, to operational delivery
    • Work closely with design and production to ensure R&D projects progress effectively
    • Manufacture and build prototype test components and assemblies
    • Conduct fair and representative tests, reporting results and progress to the wider department and team
    • Develop awareness of new technologies in software and controls, mechatronics and sensor technology
    • Ensure a high standard of personal and department presentation is maintained as appropriate for a showcase facility visited by potential sponsors and other VIPs
    • Occasionally be required for out of hours support to resolve issues as part of the facility support network

    What we're looking for

    What we are looking for from our future Graduate Electronic Controls & Systems Engineer:

    The ideal candidate will have capability of gaining a good working knowledge of the facility, it’s systems and processes and an understanding of what is important for aerodynamic development. We are looking for someone with good core interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively both alone and within a team.

    Our ideal Graduate Electronic Controls & Systems Engineer, will have:

    • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar, with a focus on electronics
    • Knowledge of electronics, controls and systems, including;
      • PCB Design
      • Electronic Circuits
      • Embedded Electronics
      • LabVIEW software
      • PLC’s
    • Knowledge of electromechanical systems
    • A positive attitude to learning and picking up new technologies
    • Great enthusiasm and a can-do attitude
    • Flexible approach to working and ability to be part of the on-call rota.
