Our work wining and proposals teams manage work winning opportunities through a robust proposals process. This role offers the opportunity to join an established and high performing team within our Rail discipline. Rail systems play a leading role in the future of modern transportation. They offer sustainable solutions that reduce carbon emissions, create greater mobility with increased energy efficiency and provide long-term economic benefits. With over 130 years experience WSP is at the forefront of some of the most exciting rail projects around the world.

As a graduate bid writer you will work to support the business providing a high-quality service producing bespoke and engaging bid content whilst benefiting from the opportunity to develop your own skills, knowledge and relationships across the business.

A typical week would include

We asked our graduates what it’s like to do their job. On a day to day basis, the life of a graduate at WSP starts off in the morning with cups of tea and responding to any urgent emails.

Beyond that, anything could happen! You could get involved in attending bid meetings or working with bid writers/graphic designers to create bespoke compelling content for proposals documents. Your day could also involve liaising with other business teams to source key information for documents.

Naturally, there is a lot to learn and you are likely to be guided through the work winning process, team briefings and client updates from the start.

What you'll need

  • You’ll be graduating in 2021 or have recently graduated with at least a 2:1 in a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Development and/or Management, Marketing or English related subjects. Candidates from other humanities backgrounds who meet the criteria and express an interest in bid writing may also be considered. 
  • You’ll ideally have less than two years relevant experience
  • You'll be able to meet bid submission deadlines according to guidelines / instructions
  • You'll enjoy writing and be able to demonstrate good creative writing skills
  • You'll have an eye for detail and strong proof reading skills 
  • You’ll want to stretch and inspire us, speaking up about any new ideas you have
  • You’ll want to throw yourself in from day one and put your studies into practice
  • You’ll have excellent communication skills
  • You’ll enjoy working in a team environment, sharing ideas and collaborating with colleagues 
  • You’ll have confidence to work under pressure with the ability to prioritise and plan effectively

How long does the process take?

You'll receive an email acknowledging receipt of your application within 48 hours of submission. We work hard to match you to the most suitable roles in our business and the recruitment process can vary depending on the role and team you are matched to. Most applications are progressed to assessment centre within 2-3 months but it’s good to know that the whole process can last up to 6 months in total. We will aim to keep you informed throughout the time that your application is being considered however, due to the volume of applications received, we are not able to respond to individual requests for status updates.
