LSEG’s graduate scheme gives you the opportunity to work in widely varying areas of the business and puts you in a unique position within the market. The atmosphere at LSEG allows you to jump into the work you’re given, with real responsibility. We can make mistakes and learn from them, there’s no pressure to be perfect first-time round, which makes it a great environment to work in.
My first rotation was a Project Analyst within Capital Markets. I was involved in projects upgrading hardware on LSE and Turquoise, the UK exchanges that LSEG own. I helped teams meet deadlines, iron out issues, and understand requirements, dependencies and restrictions, with the aim to improve efficiency and performance in hardware. It was interesting to learn about the technology that holds up the exchanges, and the various teams that are involved. This role gave me plenty of exposure and understanding of the business.
My second rotation is at London Clearing House (LCH) within SwapClear. I work with developers, testers and business analysts to make sure the environments where they run their software and code bases are intact and healthy, before going into production and release. It’s a multi-disciplinary role, which I enjoy because I get to work with very technical people, and it’s providing me with a good understanding of the technology.
The other graduates are one of the best things about the graduate scheme. We stick together, help each other out, and are involved in social activities in and out of work. For example, together we’re all organizing a charity touch rugby tournament with 28 teams from across the City.
The people here are from all walks of life. The more you talk to people the more you see how everyone comes from different backgrounds, careers, and parts of the world. It’s a very international and diverse workplace.
