About us

As a society, we are committed to finding and cultivating the very best students at the LSE and equipping them with the technical and professional skills to succeed in their chosen profession. Creating an engaged, globally competitive and commercially aware pool of members is our core purpose.

The LSESU Business and Investment Group was established in 2019 through the merging of the two largest societies on campus, the LSESU Investment Society and the LSESU Business and Finance Guild. With greater reach and operational improvements, the combined society is set to build on the successes of previous years, further increasing the human capital of its members and helping them to realise their potential and career ambitions.

The LSESU Business and Investment Group is the premier careers society on campus by both size and member engagement. We aspire to fulfil our role as the leading and most active careers society on campus. Through mentorship, exposure to responsibility and enumerate learning opportunities, we aim to nurture future leaders within both its membership and committees.

The Investment Society was founded in 2003 by a group of students keen to share their knowledge of investing. Since its founding, the Investment Society has grown to become one of the largest and most active societies at the LSE. A leading event and project driven society, it is incredibly proud of its legacy. The membership base for the last academic year was 975 students.

The Business and Finance Guild (BFG) was formed by the combination of the LSE Business Society and LSE Finance Society in 2014. It has since consistently attracted a large number of students at LSE by offering a wide range of career-oriented events in the fields of investment banking, financial services, consulting and entrepreneurship. The society had more than 930 members in the last academic year.

Our goals

Our mission statement is “to maximise the potential of our members, prepare them for their chosen career path and develop leaders for the 21st century” through:

  • Professional Education: Help members develop industry relevant technical skills and prepare them for the challenges of the workplace.
  • Industry Insights: Give members the opportunity to hear from industry leaders and build their commercial awareness.
  • Professional Networks: Facilitate the creation of cross-industry and geographically diverse networks for our members.
  • Community: Help students maximise their student experience and build lasting friendships that will transcend their time at LSE.
