About us

The Banking and Finance society is all about providing a deep insight into what the banking and finance industry entails. Through conferences, taster sessions and networking opportunities through the Banking and Finance society, students get a clearer idea of where their own interests may lie. The society is run by students with a keen interest in the Banking industry, aiming to help students across the university develop their interests or expose them to new opportunities they didn’t know existed. Through enriching students’ knowledge of the industry, we aim to encourage them to apply to different Spring, Summer and Graduate programmes. In conjunction to this we run tailored sessions catered to helping securing Spring Weeks, Internships and Graduate schemes. Regardless of what stage of your professional career you’re at, we’re here to help. For example for students just coming into university, students may find it useful to attend our sessions aimed at tailoring CVs and cover letters. With us being the biggest society on campus we aim to continue to expand our reach.

Our goals

The society wants Queen Mary University of London students to become highly competitive candidates for Spring Programs, Summer Internships and Graduate Programs. Thus, it provides a wide-range of support that encompasses:

  • Running events that provide participants with better understanding of positions they are applying to in order to ensure a suitable career path. This includes the most popular positions in the sector and those slightly less known to the public.
  • Provision of events that include talks by professionals representing key employers; this allows students to improve their networking skills, as well as to build their own networks.
  • Skills sessions that include CV/cover letter writing, mock interviews and mock assessment centers. We also dedicate time to reviewing students’ CVs during one-to-one slots.
  • Expansion beyond career-related actions through reaching out to charities to organise on campus events.
