About us

Sussex’s African and Caribbean Society is a student-run, a non-profit society whose ethos completely embodies what we wish to execute this year for all our members. Our desire is to celebrate a positive image of cultural diversity through a variety of mediums; from intellectual debates, social events, to career workshops, we will come together to not only break, but intermix the boundaries that society has moulded for us culturally.

Our goals

Enlighten, Educate and Entertain.

We aim to provide an environment in which BME students can feel comfortable and at home while studying at university. Our aim is to cultivate an environment at uni where BME students and others believe they can achieve whatever they put their mind to with others just like them that will help them along the way. We also aim to be an educational force on campus, sharing with and educating students of all races what black history, culture and the black experience are all about. Through this, we hope to spread a message of unity and acceptance across campus.
