The Economics Society at York is one of the oldest academic societies at the university. With an average membership of 150 students per year, the society is also one of the largest. They throw a whole host of events during the year, starting with an Economics freshers week. This consists of a introductory BBQ, a bar crawl and a pub quiz. Socials continue throughout the year and they regularly host them with other societies. As well as socials they host career events and speakers events. Over the last year they have hosted Sir Vince Cable and Dr Ha Joon Chang alone. Our biggest events are our winter ball and summer BBQ with 200 people attending them this year.
