Grace Houghton

Degree Subject: Politics, Philosophy and Law (LLB)

Graduation Year: 2021

About Grace: I am currently a third year Politics, Philosophy and Law (LLB) student at KCL. I am also an aspiring solicitor, with an interest in commercial, insurance and sports law. Completing a legal internship at King’s College Hospital Legal Services fuelled my interest in insurance law, and more specifically, claims and disputes, as I had exposure to claims handling in the context of medical malpractice and negligence. The Law Schools Global League Summer School in Turin furthered my interest in commercial and corporate law as I had the chance to study corporate governance and the regulation of the sharing economy on a global level. In my free time, I love to exercise! I used to be a competitive swimmer, swimming at national, and sometimes international level. I also enjoy cross country and attending classes at my gym. Moreover, I am passionate about charity work. I am taking part in the Shine 10k Walk in London in September 2019, with the objective of raising as much money as I can for Cancer Research UK.

Favourite thing about Bright Network:

My favourite thing about Bright Network is their continuous support. I have attended numerous events organised by Bright Network, including the ‘First Year Lawyers Top 100’ and the ‘Future Lawyers Top 100’ events. Support is at the core of Bright Network as a platform. They are motivated by the clear aim of guiding and preparing students for a successful future. The Bright Network Academy exemplifies this, as it was set up to help students with psychometric tests and interview preparation. The support Bright Network provides for students is second-to-none. I truly feel as though Bright Network has been on this career journey with me since day one!

Grace has been incredibly proactive at university and here she shares her top tips on how you can do the same and follow in her footsteps!

Saba Nasrolahi

Degree Subject: Law

Graduation Year: 2021

About Saba: I am a second year Law student at King’s College London, where I am the Debates Officer for the 2019/2020 executive committee of the King’s College London Law Society. I am a Lead Mentor and Education UK Ambassador at an organization where I deliver debating lessons to students across the country, from a range of backgrounds, encouraging disadvantaged students to consider university and the top professions. I am passionate about diversity and social mobility, appearing on Sky News where I debated on issues impacting women in the legal profession as part of ‘100 Years of Women at the Bar’. During my first year, I secured multiple placements and commercial schemes within the Legal Sector, as well as the Energy Sector; my current interests lie within energy-from-waste projects as well as blockchain technology. In my spare time, I am learning Spanish and enjoy learning about different cultural heritages.

Favourite thing about Bright Network: Bright Network has stood out to me as a careers platform due to their continuous support as well as the positive, motivating atmosphere at all of their fantastic events, and within the network as a whole, giving me the tools to achieve my professional goals. Attending the Bright Network Festival 2018 and Top 100 First Year Lawyers Event 2018 greatly boosted my confidence, commercial awareness and professional network. I am excited to be a part of the team!
