Over the summer, Alice joined the Marketing and Sales team in the Maritime & Trade Subsidiary of IHS Markit. She was kind enough to tell us all about what she got up to during her role and how she got on.
Alice wanted a role in which she could put to practice the research and data handling skills that she is currently perfecting in her Chemistry degree at Bristol University. Alice is pleased that she decided to do something different with her skillset, as she has been able to grow upon her skills but also discover talents she never knew that she had.
Responsibilities included doing thorough research of her clients and developing an in-depth knowledge of IHS Markit's products. To this end, she put together a guide showcasing the many services that IHS Markit provide in a coherent and attractive guide book. To hone an understanding of IHS Markit products and their uses, Alice attended both to other departments within the business, and with clients, to hone an understanding of the products and their uses. Alice described to us how this was vital to her development both within and outside of the office.
From the outset, Alice was given tasks crucial to the smooth running of IHS Markit business functions. Her programme was extended from 10 weeks to 15 weeks to allow sufficient time for the completion of the task on which she was working. IHS Markit felt that Alice’s continued contribution was essential to the successful delivery of the project. It is this flexibility and dedication, Alice has said, that makes IHS Markit such a fantastic employer.
